Masterson’s Tavern , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my most recent experience at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I found behind its threshold was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
The State of Affairs: Grimy and Abandoned
From the moment I stepped inside , it was immediately obvious that cleanliness was not a priority at this bar . The ground was covered in grime , and a pungent odor of old alcohol and neglected washrooms filled the entire pub. Smelling a mixture of urine , old age and sour vomit . The main bar, which should be the main attraction of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and debris that looked like it had been ignored for a long time .
